The Goal of Foundation in Sounds
Our Curriculum Builds the 4 Skills Your Child Needs to Succeed
Hear
Auditory discrimination is the ability to hear, recognize, and distinguish between different sounds.
(Ex. Bat vs. Pat)
Retain
Auditory memory is the ability to remember and recall what you hear, such as the sequence of sounds in words.
Sequence
Auditory sequencing is the ability to hear sounds clearly and recall them in the correct order.
Understand
Phonemic awareness is the understanding that words are made up of individual sounds, called phonemes.
If a child has gaps in any of these four skills, they may struggle to connect sounds into words, making reading and spelling harder than expected.
